PERU – Peru PADS Shelter is adding family rooms this spring, reported Carol Alcorn, representative from the shelter, at Thursday’s LaSalle County Board meeting. Alcorn spoke to board members to inform them of the shelters clientèle, explaining the importance of family rooms versus single beds. The shelter in Ottawa had a spike in clients after the addition of their three family rooms, which allow families to stay together in one room, as opposed to breaking up families by gender in the single beds. Alcorn explained that the family rooms will further help support their clients from LaSalle, Bureau, and Putnam counties. She also encouraged board members as well as county residents to volunteer at ivpads.com.
