Illinois Valley Flute Ensemble to hold upcoming concert in Peru

By: Pete

PERU – The Illinois Valley Flute Ensemble will present “A Kaleidoscope of Color” concert on Saturday at 7 PM in Peru. Free will offerings will be accepted for the event at the Zion United Church for Christ. The money raised will be going to a flute scholarship fund to assist flutists who would like to attend the Summer Flute Retreat this June in Peru.  Music performed by around 20 musicians will feature a color in the title of the piece and we will conclude with a great arrangement of “Colors of the Wind”, all under the direction of Oglesby native Sue Gillio.

The concert is sponsored by Music Suite 408, North Central Illinois ARTworks and the Illinois Valley Flute Ensemble.

Performers include: Lois Croasdale, Spring Valley; Catherine Engels, Emily Kmetz, LaSalle; Kathy Gage, Keokuk, IA; Maggie Ferguson, Aubrey Garretson, Sue Johnson, Gabby Mosley, Maddie Vescogni, Peru; Tony Grunstad, Natalie Lindig, Ottawa; Eileen Hagenbuch, Utica; Kendra Herman, Kendra Olson, Seneca; Jan Hoge, Wenona; Julie Pleskovitch, Oglesby; Donna Robinson, Princeton; Ava Rosengren, Serena; Jamie Valadez, Dalzell

All Illinois Valley Flute Ensemble performances are on a donation basis, which enables the groups to purchase new music, help with the upkeep of instruments and provides full or partial scholarships to the Summer Flute Retreat and other summer music opportunities for flute students.
