Gas prices poised to be similar or cheaper than last Thanksgiving holiday

CHICAGO –  Americans hitting the road for the Thanksgiving holiday will find gas prices similar, if not cheaper, than last year’s. According American Automobile Association Spokesperson Jeanette Casselano, during Thanksgiving week last year the national gas price average decreased a nickel and that could be the case again this year. Locally, LaSalle and Putnam counties experienced a slight increase in prices, averaging $2.57. Bureau County prices fell by 10 cents, the cheapest in the area, now at $2.50. Today, 61% of all gas stations in the country are selling regular unleaded for $2.50 or less.
