Streator Proposes Plans for Route 18 East TIF District

STREATOR – A redevelopment project for Route 18 East TIF District in Streator was proposed at a city council meeting, Wednesday. City attorney, Herb Klein presented a map of the Route 18 East TIF District, where a proposed assisted living facility will be located. The city believes the adopted plans will stimulate new commercial and residential redevelopment within the city. The for profit assisted living facility will be located near Bourbon and East Main Street.
The city proposes to establish the Route 18 TIF District by redeveloping property that is currently underutilized to encourage commercial, residential and light industrial development in order to improve and extend infrastructure, increase employment opportunities, expand and diversify the local tax base , increase population, stimulate the local economy, generate additional retail sales tax revenues and increase the overall value and quality of life for the community and its residents.
