Streator looking into PACE Program admin

STREATOR – The city of Streator may hire an administrator for their PACE program. The Property Assessed Clean Energy program allows for business developers in Streator to receive additional financing for energy efficiency projects. The program would allow property owners to repay the long-term loan through the real estate tax bill. From the start of the program, it has been City Manager Scot Wrighton’s recommendation to outsource. Wrighton says it would be helpful to the city to have someone who can pre review applications so that city requirements are all met before submission. Wrighton has looked into three firms, including a firm that administrates Chicago’s program. Mayor Lansford also agreed to a third party administrator, since the program is fairly new. The city tabled acting until proposals are made.
