PERU – A Peru man is facing cocaine charges after an investigation into drug sales in the Illinois Valley. The Peru Police Department say that 23-year-old Richard K. Basques was taken into custody Monday morning with a charge of Felony Unlawful Delivery of a Controlled Substance. Authorities say Basques allegedly delivered purported cocaine to members of the Peru Police Department of Special Investigations Unit. Over the past several months the Peru Police Department SIU has conducted a narcotics investigation targeting the delivery of various types of narcotics including in the Peru area. The LaSalle County State’s Attorney’s office assisted detectives during the course of the Basques investigation.
Chief Bernabei stated “I am very proud of the work of the members of the Peru Police Department as well as our local law enforcement partners; their professional and hard work is certain to make for a safer community.”
Basques is being held at the LaSalle County Jail on $750,000 bond.
