STREATOR — Residents of Streator could see their water bills rise starting in 2017. Officials at Illinois American Water filed an application with the Illinois Commerce Commission yesterday to adjust the rates for water and sewer service, which would take effect next January. Residents could see their water bill hike a monthly average of $7.57, meaning residents could be paying between $41 and $49 a month, excluding any additional charges. Officials say investments in water and sewer system improvements are why they are seeking the rate change request. Some improvements include replacing and installing fire hydrants, valves, meters and approximately 1.3 miles of water main.
