May 20, 2017

Saturday, May 20th the LaSalle County Genealogy Guild will met at The Guild Library, 115 W. Glover in Ottawa.  Our speaker for this month is Lorraine McCallister.  The subject of her talk is The Genealogy of Reddick Mansion.  Lorraine McCallister came to Ottawa with her parents after her father was transferred to the area by Libby-Owens-Ford.  her father died in 2011, but her mother still lives on Fort Street, where Lorraine grew up.  She attended Shabbona School and then was in the first graduation class of Sheperd Junior High School.  She graduated from Ottawa Township High School and then went on to Illinois State University where she earned her teaching credentials.  her first job at Prophestown-Lyndon-Tampico School District is where she ended up spending her career as an educator mostly teaching eight grade language arts classes.  She is a Reddick Mansion association volunteer.  She has researched the mansion’s namesake first owner, William Reddick who was a merchant, politician and public official.
