LaSalle County Genealogy Guild

Ottawa will meet at the Guild Library, 115 W. Glover at 1:00. Our speaker will be Debra Snook. She will present a program on schools that were in the town of Wedron from 1873-1977. Debbie is a native of Wedron and in 1999 she and her mother attended a craft show held in the Wedron Methodist Church. While visiting with an old friend who still resided in Wedron they struck up a conversation on the history of the town. This old friend, Burnette Smith invited them to her home to share what information she had on the town, and it was at this moment a 17 year project began.
Fast forward to today… Debbie now has many notebooks full of information and photos on the little town that began in 1871. She will present a history of the schools that were one a part of the town along with many of the students who have graduated. She will give a slideshow along with her talk.
