IVCC Native American History Month Presentations

Illinois Valley Community College’s Diversity Team sponsors two presentations in November for Native American History Month.
Adjunct instructor and local author Heinz Suppan presents “Remember Indian Creek! In the Shadow of the Black Hawk War” at noon Wednesday, Nov. 14 in Room CTC124.

Suppan will discuss the Black Hawk War and how the treatment of Native peoples led to a tragedy that could have been avoided.

Chief Gerald Savage of the HoChunk Nation and member of the Bear Clan presents “A History of Native Americans in the Illinois Valley” at noon Monday, Nov. 19 in Rooms CTC124-125.
Savage is an IVCC alum and La Salle Elementary school board member.
