The Illinois Valley Hispanic Partnership Council celebrates its 19th Annual Cinco De Mayo Festival at the Mendota Civic Center, 1901 Tom Merwin Drive, Mendota, IL, on Thursday, May 4th from 5 til 8 pm to celebrate cultural awareness.  Please attend this free event featuring Ronald McDonald and win some fabulous prizes.  Please join us for some authentic Mexican food, folkloric dancers, I-Pad and TV raffles, information booths, queen, mini-king & mini-queen contest, and entertainment for all.  Cinco de Mayo commemorates the victory of the Mexican army over the French during the Battle of Puebla in 1862.  To this day, Cinco de Mayo is celebrated in several U.S. cities with a significant Mexican population including the Illinois Valley.
