Chicago Police Bomb Squad destroy live WWII artillery shell found in yard

CHICAGO – The Chicago Police Department Bomb Squad destroyed an apparent WWII artillery shell last week.   According to CPD a resident was digging in his yard in the 3000 block of W. 38th PL when the device was discovered.  The Bomb squad took the device to another location and used a counter charge to safely destroy the shell.  No injuries were reported.
