Aurora Woman Charged With Attempted Murder; Aggravated Arson

AURORA – An Aurora woman has been charged with Attempted Murder and Aggravated Arson after authorities say she started a fire in her residence to kill a man who was inside. On Saturday around 7 PM the Aurora Fire Department responded to the 800 block of Taylor Avenue. After a preliminary investigation, Aurora police arrested 73-year-old Joanne J. Burgess and charged her with one count of Attempted Murder and one count of Aggravated Arson. The man in the home was reportedly in stable condition and was not transported to an area hospital at their request. Burgess was transported to the Kane County Jail. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
