Burglary suspects crash car after pursuit near Ottawa Sunday

OTTAWA – Three individuals suspected of burglary are in custody after leading police on a short pursuit and crashing their vehicle on Sunday. The LaSalle County Sheriff’s Office say around 11:15 PM they were called to rural Ottawa for a reported burglary in progress. Authorities say they located a vehicle with persons of interest inside and a short pursuit ensued. The vehicle reportedly crashed at the intersection of East 18th Road and Etna Road. The subjects allegedly fled, but were taken into custody after a brief search. Taken into custody was 47-year-old Randolf D. Jeffries of Chicago, who was charged with Armed Violence and Burglary. Also taken to the LaSalle County Jail were 47-year-old Shavonne L. Turner of Chicago and 23-year-old Julie A. Lopez of Michigan City, Indiana, who were both charged with Burglary. Turner and Lopez were being held on a $50,000 bond, while Jeffries was held on a $200,000 bond. The incident remains under investigation.
