Nationwide unemployment continues to dwindle

 
UNDATED – Area county unemployment for the month of March continues on the downward scale for Illinois and nationwide, cut down to half compared to a year ago. In March of 2021, the unemployment rate as a country showed 6% of Americans without jobs,  now 3.6% are without. Bureau County remains the lowest percentage of unemployment in the area, at 5.1 %, Putnam at 5.4 the biggest decrease compared to 6% last month, and LaSalle is currently, at 5.7% unemployment. Statewide, the unemployment charts show a downward trend since last year, with 4.7% unemployment compared to 6.7% last year.
