PACE Program in the works for Streator

STREATOR – The city of Streator approved a plan for a Property Assessed Clean Energy, or PACE program for Streator. The city has been working to enact PACE to allow business developers in Streator to receive additional financing for energy efficiency projects such as installing solar panels, or other energy efficient mechanisms. The program would allow property owners to repay the long-term loan through the real estate tax bill. City Manager Scot Wrighton says Streator is one of the first local governments in the state that has acted on this program. He says the program can be used anywhere within city limits for commercial and industrial projects so long as its zoned accordingly with the city. Wrighton stated going forward they intend to adopt an implementation plan and conduct a public hearing.
