PERU – The city of Peru plans to widen and realign North Peoria Street as well as build a round-about intersection to alleviate congestion. City officials held an open house on Wednesday evening, presenting aerial maps of the proposed project, taking input from the public. The roundabout will be located at the corner of North Peoria Street and Plank Road. Engineering Consultant James K. Clinard says the estimated $3.5 million dollar multi-funded project could take up to 2 years to complete, and hopes to begin construction by next fall. He says the project will be done in phases, with future plans consisting of connecting Wenzel Road to Plank Road and Midtown Road to Plank Road. Constructing bidding will begin next year
