Peru Library

Comics in a bag debut at Peru Library
In the summer of 2016, the Peru Public Library received a donation of comic books and graphic novels.  Since than library staff and volunteers worked to sort and catalog the collection for borrowing by library patrons.  “The November sort was featured in the News Tribune and other area news media,” Charm Ruhnke, library director, mentioned.  During January, the Peru Library began circulating approximately 1,000 comics from this collection.
The issues grouped into thirty-four titles have 1 to 4 volumes or sets per title.  The library expects the number of titles to reach 60, with multiple volumes per title.  A sampling of the current 34 series titles includes Wolverine, Iron man, Deadpool, Captain America, Spider-man, and World War Hulk as well as Incredible Hulk.  Titles still in processing include Adventures of Superman, Batman and Robin, more X-men and the DC Comic world.  The library gathered the Marvel Civil War issues from Iron Man, Captain America, etc., into four sets for easy reading.
Ruhnke said, “We had a soft opening of the collection to work out any kinks, but when Spidey and Pearl read comics during our Animal Sleepover we knew the collection was ready for everyone.”
Stop by the Peru Library to browse the new comic collection.  Or search the library’s catalog (http://search.prairiecat.info/) for Comics in a Bag to see the available titles.  Anyone with a valid public library card may borrow Comics in a Bag for 2 weeks.
