New Jersey man removes neighbors trees, could cost him over $1 million

broken-screen

KINNELON, NJ – A man in Kinnelon, New Jersey took it upon himself to remove 32 trees on his neighbors property.  He hired a company to take down the trees so that he could have a better view of the New York skyline.  Because he did not have a permit or permission to remove the fully grown trees, he faces a fine of $1,000 per tree.  However, paying $32,000 is only the start of the financial burden that the man faces.  The law also states that he has to replace the trees that he had removed, and saplings are not what they are asking for.  He needs to replace them with full grown trees, which means roads need to be built to bring the trees in as well as the transfer of full grown trees and watering them for two years to make sure they survive.  An estimate shows that the endeavor could cost upwards of $1.5 million.
