Buzz words in meetings that don’t necessarily mean anything

Have you heard any of these buzz words while you were in a work meeting?  Most of these are just ways to avoid the topic at hand and continue on with the meeting.

  1. Let’s circle back on that.” – Often used to delay making a decision or discussing a challenging topic.
  2. “Synergize our efforts.” – Vague jargon to describe collaboration without specific actions.
  3. “Low-hanging fruit.” – Refers to easy tasks, but lacks concrete details.
  4. “Think outside the box.” – Encourages creativity but lacks a clear direction.
  5. “We need to streamline our processes.” – Suggests improvement without specifying how.
  6. “It is what it is.” – Acceptance of a problem without addressing it.
  7. “Let’s take this offline.” – Avoids addressing a complex issue in the current meeting.
  8. “We’re on the same page.” – Assumes agreement without confirming details.
  9. “We’ll touch base later.” – Postpones discussion without setting a specific time.
  10. “We need more bandwidth.” – Vague request for additional resources or time.
