STREATOR – Streator’s city council gave the OK for a crematory business to operate on Bloomington Street.
Last month, Schultz Monument business asked the city’s permission to purchase property on 404 North Bloomington Street to operate a crematory and offices. Mayor Jimmie Lansford said he doesn’t see any issues with the proposed business’s proximity to Streator High School and says that owners have already been in contact with the high school. City Engineer Jeremy Palm says the business will require buffers to the west and south of the property and will go through further building and design plans with the Plan Commission.
