STREATOR – Streator Township High School is requesting that the city update its tobacco ordinance. In a city council meeting on Tuesday, updating the underage tobacco ordinance to include vaping devices and e-cigarettes was discussed. Last month, Gov. J.B Pritzker signed a bill that would raise the legal age for purchasing and using tobacco products to 21 years of age. City Attorney Sheryl Churney says the amendments are in efforts to keep the product out of the hands of minors. Churney plans to have the ordinance updated for the City Council to vote on next month.
