STREATOR – The Vermilion Valley Emergency Communications Authority or (Vcom) will have some new projects in the works for the upcoming year. In a Streator City Council meeting on Tuesday, Vcom gave a year-end presentation on technical initiatives the emergency service entity utilizes, along with project for 2019. Director of Communications Randy Wittenberg, says a goal for the agency is to implement a crime stoppers program for Livingston County and Streator wide, allowing citizens within the jurisdiction to call in a tip for suspicious activity. School camera initiatives were recently established for Livingston and Streator, according to Wittenberg. The 911 dispatch center has all school cameras in Livingston County and Streator available in the event of an emergency situation.
