STREATOR — A shorter school week was in the discussions at last night’s Streator Elementary School board meeting. Officials discussed the idea as it could be used as a cost-saving measure, but are also questioning how it would affect students education in the long run, along with teachers and other faculty. A move to a shorter week would also mean students would have longer school days, and officials said Fridays could be used as the school improvement days. Superintendent Matt Wilkinson said the idea has been brought up before, but there is still a lot to be researched. He said that research has been inconclusive on whether or not it has any educational benefits.
