UNDATED — Unemployment numbers continue to be up throughout the local area. New numbers released by the Illinois Department of Employment Security show that La Salle County unemployment rose over one percent from February 2015 to 8.6 percent this year. Numbers were also up in Bureau County, where unemployment rose year-over-year to 8.1 percent in February from 7.3 last year. Putnam County slightly rose 0.3 percent to 7.7 from last February to this year. Numbers were also up in Livingston County, where unemployment rose year-over-year to 6.9 percent in February from 5.8 last year. Officials say despite the rise in unemployment, non-farm payrolls gained jobs, including in the Government sector, while leisure and hospitality had the biggest losses.
