LA SALLE — Dimmick school officials approved an agreement for a consolidation of the district with Cherry. At a special board meeting last night, Dimmick board members voted with unanimous favor to send a proposition to the La Salle County Regional Office of Education for approval to combine with Cherry and to levy taxes within the combined district. Superintendent Ryan Linnig said current taxes within the Cherry district stand at $3.07 per $100 of equalized assessed value, and Dimmick is at $1.67. Linnig said the proposition would drop Cherry’s tax rates nearly 50%, while Dimmick would most likely stay the same. The question will go to the ROE following it’s joint approval from Cherry, then be up for vote on the November election ballot.
