STREATOR — Residents in Otter Creek township, southeast of Streator, will soon be annexed into the city. At a special meeting of the city council last night, council members unanimously approved the annexation agreements in an area where sewer infrastructre requires vast improvements. City Manager Scot Wrighton said that many of the home sewer lines were dumping into old mine shafts, which have caused problems in residents yards and homes. With the approval, 59 properties will be annexed into the city and residents of those properties will be receiving letters in the mail informing them that the annexation has gone through.
