UNDATED — After a very wet start to the summer, rain has been hard to come by over the last three months, creating near short-term drought conditions. Reports from the Illinois Climatology Office show areas of La Salle County are three to five inches below normal in rainfall since mid-July. Precipitation for this month ranges from less than a tenth-of-an-inch of rain in southeastern La Salle County to quarter-of-an-inch in western La Salle County and eastern Bureau County.
While the area has not been declared a drought area yet, areas of central and western Illinois have been put under a “moderate drought.”
