UNDATED — Unemployment rates were down in October compared to one year ago. The Illinois Department of Employment Security says La Salle, Bureau, and Putnam Counties all fell two-tenths of a percentage point in October. La Salle County is down to 6.6 percent, Bureau County fell to 6 percent, and Putnam County is down to 5.8 percent. Officials say the largest job gains in the area were in the financial activities sector, with the biggest losses in construction and manufacturing.
