Trojans soccer to play in sectional final

MENDOTA – The Mendota Boys Soccer team remains unbeaten, and will now take on Quincy Notre Dame for a chance to get their first ever sectional title.   The Trojans dismantled Peoria Christian Tuesday night 3-0 in a semifinal contest in Chillicothe.   

The leading scorer, Yahir Diaz led things off with an early goal in the first half, followed by another kicked in by Jasiel Watson two minutes later.   In the second half the Trojans capped off the game with a goal by Ricky Orozco with only 4:22 remaining.   Keeper Manny Trejo was briefly out of the game after a hard collision inside of the box, but returned to cheers just a few minutes later from the many Mendota fans in attendance.

“It was our team goal this offseason to get to the sectional championship and have a chance to win schools first ever sectional”Coach Myers said after the game.

The game will be Saturday at 3PM in Chillicothe.   Tickets for the event will have to be purchased in advance.
