STREATOR – Colder weather with windchills into the negatives are with us once again, and keep our homes warm becomes a priority, due to the risk of water damage from frozen and bust pipes. Illinois American Water Spokesperson Karen Cotton says there are ways to prevent the headache and unexpected expense. When temperatures are consistently at or below freezing homeowners should eliminate sources of cold air near water lines, know the location of your main water shut-off and allow a small trickle of water to run overnight to keep pipes from freezing.
