Streator’s Fire Department will gain access to surplus equipment

STREATOR – Streator’s Fire Department will have access to surplus equipment for training and emergency purposes through the Illinois Department of Natural Resources. At Wednesday nights council meeting the city authorized acquisition of various equipment and tools from the IDNR, the U.S. Forest Service and the Department of Defense. Fire Department Chief Bird says the agreement also allows for access to a cache of equipment that’s kept at Starved Rock Park like message board signs and generators in the event of a disaster.
