STREATOR – Local school districts in Streator will be gifted furry friends from Streator Area United Way. It’s all a part of the community organization’s new Therapy Dog Program. Executive Director Elizabeth Palm says the board of directors voted to put the program into works earlier this year after attaining extra campaign dollars. The therapy dog program offered to Woodland and Streator schools includes the cost of the pup, training, and veterinary care. Palm says the benefits of a therapy dog go beyond just the physical, emotional, and mental health benefits.
