Roosevelt Taylor, 82, safety on Bears’ 1963 title team, dies

CHICAGO (AP) – The former Chicago Bears star safety Roosevelt Taylor has died. The team said he died Friday but did not provide details Taylor was an All-Pro in 1963 when the Bears won the NFL championship. He led the league in interceptions that year. Chicago was 11-1-2 in that championship season, winning all eight games in which Taylor had an interception. He also made the Pro Bowl in 1968. Taylor played his first nine NFL seasons with Chicago, starting in 1961 and appearing in every game. Roosevelt Taylor was 82.
