Red Cross tests blood donations for COVID-19 antibodies, local opportunities this week

American Red Cross Logo

UNDATED – The American Red Cross is testing blood, platelet, and plasma donations for COVID-19 antibodies. The organization says the test may indicate if the donor’s immune system has produced antibodies to this coronavirus, regardless of whether they developed symptoms. Testing may also identify the presence of antibodies developed after receiving a COVID-19 vaccine.
The Red Cross will be holding blood donations locally in Peru on Wednesday at the Illinois Valley Chapter Donation Center from noon to 5:30 p.m. and in Streator on Friday at the Streator Reading Township Volunteer Fire Department from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.
