OTTAWA — Candidates vying for a spot on the March ballot had their first chance on Monday. La Salle County Clerk Jo Ann Carretto said several people submitted their signed petitions to get onto the upcoming election ballot. Democrats Jim Olson of Seneca and Nikki Baer of La Salle, along with Republican Greg Vaccaro of Peru are looking to take the spot of Circuit Clerk in place of Andy Skoog. For the State’s Attorney, Brian Towne is running for re-election as a Democrat, while Republican Karen Donnelly of Tonica looks to face Towne for that spot. Overall, 17 people submitted their applications for the March ballot.
