OTTAWA – The city of Ottawa is pursuing grants to upgrade Thornton Park. Mayor Dan Aussem says during a workshop, upgrades were considered for Thornton Park like resurfacing the tennis, pickleball and basketball courts, new shelters, a splash pad and playground equipment. The city authorized a contract with Upland Designs to apply for an Open Spaces, Land, Acquisition and Development grant of $300,000.

He says the grant must be matched with whatever the city gets awarded, however the city can use in kind services as part of the match.
The city is also looking to apply for a tennis court rehab grant through the National Tennis Committee that could be counted towards the in kind services match.
