Oglesby man charged in crash that killed Mendota teen

PRINCETON — An Oglesby man has been charged in Bureau County, stemming from an August crash that killed a Mendota teen. The Bureau County Sheriff’s Office says 20-year old Jose Torres was charged with failure to report an accident involving death, and a warrant was issued for Torres with a $300,000 bond. The sheriff’s office says they believe Torres was the driver of the vehicle that struck and killed 19-year old Jaquelin Martinez-Maldonado on August 30th in rural Bureau County. Torres is currently being held in the La Salle County Jail, after authorities say he was arrested in Oglesby for concealing collateral on Tuesday. His bond in La Salle County is $100,000.
