STREATOR – The greater Livingston County Economic Development Council is now supporting science, technology, engineering and math programs at Woodland High School. Executive Director Adam Dontz gave a presentation to Streator council members Wednesday, discussing new initiatives in place to create a stronger workforce for generations to come. The over 55,000 dollar grant program for STEM assistance was put towards the professional development of faculty, and the modification of curriculum. Dontz says twice a year, employers like OSF HealthCare and Vactor Manufacturing visit Woodland to give guidance and input to the enhancement of STEM programs. In doing so, Dontz believes this will keep students up to speed with needs of employers.
