Heavy snow forces ground stop at O’Hare, snarls air traffic

CHICAGO (AP) – A winter storm that swept across northern Illinois forced the cancellation of hundreds of flights at Chicago’s two major airports and prompted the Federal Aviation Administration to stop operations at O’Hare International Airport for a time. A winter weather advisory issued is set to last into early Saturday, with the snow giving way to sleet and ice though the overnight hours.   Highways and interstates were troublesome for travelers as well, with multiple cars and tractor trailers in the ditch, sometimes blocking all lanes.
