Former Mendota High School Teacher Arrested

MENDOTA – A former Mendota High School teacher was taken into custody after an investigation into sexual misconduct with a student, Friday. According to the Mendota Police Department, they and the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services opened a criminal investigation into the allegation of sexual misconduct between 56-year-old John G. Holzman, and a student who was at least 13 years of age. Authorities say after weeks of investigation, Holzman was charged by the LaSalle County State’s Attorney’s Office with one count of criminal sexual abuse and one count of aggravated criminal sexual abuse. He was released after posting 10 percent of his $150,000 bond. His court day is June 27th.
