IVCC Teen Career Camps

June 14, 2021 @ 8:00 am - June 17, 2021 @ 5:00 pm

Illinois Valley Community College’s Continuing Education Center offers Teen Career Exploration Camps for ages 13 to 17 in June and July.

Taught by IVCC faculty, camps expose students to careers in various fields through interactive discussion and hands-on simulation. Skills needed to succeed on the job and in life will be incorporated into each camp.

Camps cover careers in health, manufacturing, automotive and welding.

“GRIP” camp, June 14-17, focuses on STEM careers including electronics, computer-aided drafting, automotive and industrial maintenance.

“SPARK!” meets June 28-July 1 and covers basic MIG welding, workplace safety, basic manufacturing processes and basic print-reading skills.

“SCRUBS!”, July 12-15, introduces students to careers in dental health, emergency medical services, medical assisting and nursing.

CEC Director Jennifer Scheri said, “The camps are an opportunity for teens unsure of their college or career goals to learn by doing. It is never too early to start planning.”

Each four-day camp will be in IVCC’s modern labs. Programs follow IVCC’s health and safety guidelines. Camps are partially funded with grant money.

            Register at (815) 224-0447 or www.ivcc.edu/onlinecec.
