Dixon Police searching for man possibly connected to a Kankakee homicide

#UPDATE As of 11:30 p.m. Saturday, the Dixon Police Department has canceled the operation regarding the attempt to locate Aaron Thomas.  They say the suspect is believed to have left the Lee County area.


DIXON – The Dixon Police Department have been searching for a person of interest in a homicide investigation after a car they were alleged to have been in was spotted in the area.   The homicide victim’s vehicle was located early Friday morning at the Dixon off ramp of I-88. At one point, the subject identified as Aaron J. Thomas, was reportedly observed attempting to obtain gas for the vehicle. The Lee County Sheriff’s Office and Dixon Police Department began conducting an extensive search of the area throughout the morning and into the late afternoon, but were unable to locate the individual.  Thomas allegedly has connections to a homicide, according to the Kankakee Police Department.

Authorities are reminding the citizens of Dixon the importance of locking your vehicles, garage doors, and homes.

If you observe this subject, do not approach, but contact the Dixon Police Department immediately by calling 911 and provide the location where the subject was observed and direction of travel.
