SPRINGFIELD – At the close of 2022, unemployment rates in North Central Illinois remained high. Putnam County saw the highest increase in unemployment, currently over 5%, compared to 4.4% last month. LaSalle County also made a jump in its unemployment rate, higher than the state average, at 4.8%. Bureau County remains on the lower end of unemployment at 4.4%. The statewide unemployment average remains unchanged at 4.7%.
