LA SALLE — A Chicago man was arrested on Wednesday night after he allegedly led police in a pursuit. La Salle Police say an officer attempted to stop 36-year old Ernest Gaston on northbound Interstate 39 near La Salle, and that’s when authorities say Gaston sped off. Authorities say the pursuit, which reached speeds of 120 MPH, went north on I-39 to the Troy Grove exit, where Gaston then turned around, and proceeded southbound. Gaston hit stop sticks that another officer had laid out on I-39 southbound, and authorities say he drove on a damaged rim and tire before pulling over. Gaston was arrested and charged with aggravated fleeing and eluding along with other traffic offenses, and was taken to the La Salle County Jail, his bond yet to be set.
