DEKALB – A bicyclist is dead after an early Thursday collision in DeKalb. According to the Dekalb Police Department, they were called to the 800 block of East Fairview Drive around 4:30 a.m. for a bike vs SUV incident. In their investigation, police determined that 34-year-old Jonathan D. Wood was traveling east and allegedly crossed the fog line with his SUV, striking the cyclist who was also traveling eastbound. The injured party was taken to an area hospital where they succumb to their injuries. Wood was charged with Improper Overtaking, Failure to Reduce Speed to Avoid an Accident, and Improper Lane Usage. The identity of the bicyclist is being withheld pending notification of the family by the DeKalb County Coroner.
