Streator city council talks emergency medical calls

STREATOR — With the OSF Center for Health in Streator still lacking a designation as a “stand alone emergency center,” many ambulance and medical calls continue to take patients to Ottawa. During the Committee of the Whole Meeting on Tuesday, city officials discussed ways to help reduce what is considered an emergency call. City Manager Scot Wrighton said that Advanced Medical Transport talked about mobile integrated health care, which would have responders go to a home during a call for a fall or something considered non-acute, give assistance and also give tips on how to prevent further falls and injury and a follow-up would take place next day to address other concerns. The topic will be discussed further at future COW meetings.
