MENDOTA - Men's Lenten dinner


The Zion United Methodist Church in Mendota 52nd annual Men's Lenten Dinner will be held at 6 p.m. on March 11. The free dinner will include a free pork roast dinner, followed by music and outdoor adventurist guest speaker Kent Terry, followed by a pie auction. A free-will offering will be taken and all proceeds will go toward the medical expenses incurred by Cheryl Dykstra, wife of Rev. Dale Dykstra of the Presbyterian Church of Mendota.

MENDOTA - Kindergarten round-up night


A kindergarten round-up night for all children entering kindergarten in the fall of 2010 and who reside in Mendota School Dist. 289 will be held from 6:30 until 7:30 p.m. on March 11, at Blackstone School. Call 539.6888 for more information.

MENDOTA - Corned beef and cabbage

AMBOY - Spring production of Meet Me in St. Louis


Amboy High School will present Meet Me in St. Louis at 7 p.m. on March 12 and 13 and at 2 p.m. on March 14. Tickets are $5 for adults and $4 for students and seniors.

LAMOILLE - Pancake and sausage breakfast


The LaMoille Lions Club will hold an all-you-can-eat breakfast from 8 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. on March 14. The breakfast includes pancakes, sausage, ham, eggs, toast, orange juice, milk and coffee. Cost is $5 for adults, $3 for children 6 to 10 and children 5 and under are free. Additionally, March 14, is diabetes awareness day at the Lions Club. Get blood sugar evaluations and blood pressure readings from 8:30 a.m. until noon. Twelve hour fast required for blood sugar.

MENDOTA - Legion breakfast


The Mendota Moose Lodge will hold a breakfast from 8 a.m. until noon on March 14. The breakfast includes eggs any style, pancakes or French toast, fried potatoes, biscuits and gravy, sausage and bacon, coffee, milk and orange juice. Adults are $6, children 5 to 10 are $3 and children under 5 are free.

Graves-Hume Public Library has scheduled the following events for March:
March 16 from 10 a.m. until noon - Read to me story time for children ages 3 through 5 years featuring 20 minutes of songs, stories, fingerplays and other activities.
March 18 from 6 until 8 p.m. - Music in the parlor with pianist Jacob Schmitt.
March 23 at 6:30 p.m. - Singers Bob Bovee and Gail Heil will sing authentic cowboy songs. Sign up necessary to ensure adequate seating.
March 24 from 3:30 until 4:15 p.m. - Story and a craft for children in grades kindergarten through 4th.

Crossroads Coffee House, a non-demonimational Christian coffee house, will hold its next event on March 19, at the Mendota Civic Center. Coffeehouse is open from 6 until 9:30 p.m. with the band Soul Shine performing at 7 p.m. Admission is free, but a free-will offering will be taken.

MENDOTA - Dueling pianos

The Community United Methodist Church in LaMoille will hold a beef supper from 5 until 7 p.m. on March 25, serving a full beef and potato meal with salad bar, dessert bar and drinks. SERENA - FFA pork chop supper


The Serena FFA will host its annual pork chop supper from 5 until 8 p.m. on March 27, at Serena High School. Single pork shop meals cost $8 and double meals cost $10. Tickets are available from FFA members or at the door. The meal includes baked beans, apple sauce, baked potato, dinner roll and dessert. Meals are available by drive-through, take out or dine in.
