No love for Great Lakes Basin at Morris meeting

MORRIS — The man at the head of the Great Lakes Basin railroad met with over 400 people in Morris last night. Frank Patton, with the help of the Grundy County Board, held the informational meeting about the proposed rail-line inside of the Morris High School gymnasium. Patton spoke about the project for 20 minutes before a question and answer session, which lasted for an hour. Many of the main concerns brought up included liability of derailment and hazardous spills, compensation of lost land and income, noise pollution, and safety among many other questions. Patton was led away with police following the meeting after a group of about 25 people gathered around him asking questions and shouting in his face. Other meetings will be held in the future, however no timetable has been set.
